The right to terminate treatment at the patient's own request must be explained and recognised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Criteria for the patient's capacity for judgement must be defined. The reasons for the patient's decision should be asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The doctor must inform the patient about the risks of discontinuing treatment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The procedure for cancelling treatment without informing the hospital must be defined: Contacting the patient, e.g. in the case of chemotherapy or radiotherapy, use of medical devices or infectious diseases with a risk to others (reporting obligations for infectious diseases).
