1.2.01 Declaration of patients' rights Estimated reading: 1 minute 806 views Authors Goal and purpose Selection of a declaration on the fundamental rights of patients or its adaptation, e.g. the World Medical Association's Declaration of Helsinki and/or a document based on the WHO's "Model for a Declaration on the Rights of Patients" of 11 January 1994. The declaration should be accessible to all patients (notice board, website). If necessary, patients' rights must also be communicated in a way other than in writing. The information provided to patients about their rights must be comprehensible and take into account their level of comprehension. Staff must be regularly informed about the rights of patients and their relatives. The rights of patients and their relatives must be taken into account when organising procedures during treatment. Respect for patients' rights by the institution must be regularly reviewed. Application The document is included in the QA manual for the information of all employees. Patients' rights are implemented in the procedural instructions, insofar as this is the decision of the Executive Board.
