Goal and purpose

For each quality-relevant function in the hospital, the tasks are described in detail (job description), e.g. for the head ward nurse, the X-ray assistant, the doctor in the emergency department, the radiation protection officer, etc. A generally applicable form is developed and used for this purpose. The descriptions are formally put into effect by the management and periodically adapted to requirements. In addition to professional competence and the required formal qualification requirements, the job descriptions should also specify personal characteristics such as the necessary degree of social competence, organisational skills, communication skills, etc.
The descriptions are used to guide staff in order to determine the time budget for functions, identify training requirements, enable the selection of suitable staff and define the content of labour contract agreements.

Description of the requirements for the person who is to carry out the activities and the familiarisation prior to taking up the activity. Evaluation of the activity for salary, remuneration. Delimitation of tasks, definition of authorisations, determination of personnel requirements, employee management and motivation, basis for appraisals, workplace design and equipment. Standardised form. Coordination with other work tasks in the company. Assignment of communication channels, information obligations.

Area of application

A job description should be available for every quality-relevant activity, especially those listed in the organisation chart. The description serves as a template for job advertisements, information for job applicants, issuing certificates, basis for employee appraisals, definition of qualification requirements, assessment of workload, defence against accusations of inadequate fulfilment of tasks, avoidance of disputes over competence A description should be prepared for each quality-relevant function in the organisation chart.

Terms

Position (organisational) For the purposes of this VA, includes all tasks, responsibilities and competences that are performed, transferred or exercised in an organisational function. By way of derogation, the term is used in budgeting to authorise the administration to dispose of funds budgeted in the budget in order to pay staff (expenditure authorisation). A "position" generally stands for an amount that is necessary to remunerate a full-time employee. The "job description" is therefore part of the employment contract in this different sense.

Work process: The work process comprises a part of the processing that is complete in itself. If this process is to be understood as a work step in the processing of a more comprehensive overall process, the work process reaches a stage of processing at which a third party can continue the processing (without having to retrace the content of all previous work steps).
