Legally, the surgical report is an important document that the hospital is obliged to provide (Section 630f (2) BGB). The surgical report is of great importance in the clarification of liability claims.
The surgical report must be comprehensible. The procedure must be comprehensible from the description. The report is sufficient if a reader with specialist knowledge can understand how the surgeon proceeded and what special features had to be taken into account.
