2.4.01 Responsibility for treatment

Estimated reading: 1 minute 72 views Authors

Goal and purpose

The responsibility for treatment in individual cases should be clarified in a procedural instruction. One person should always be named as the contact person for each patient, through whom the entire treatment is integrated. Problems such as different professional and decision-making competences, transfer of responsibility from one doctor to another and representation must be resolved. Liability issues must be taken into account.

Hospital treatment should always be coordinated by a doctor who can be reached by the patient within a reasonable time. The coordinating doctor does not have to be the "treating" doctor. Criteria for cancelling or reviewing treatment must be specified.

Questions of responsibility for treatments that are shared by several departments will be analysed.
