2.4.01 Responsibility for treatment

Estimated reading: 1 minute 741 views Authors Avatar photo

Goal and purpose

Regulation of responsibility for treatment in individual cases. For each patient, one person must always be named as the contact person through whom the entire treatment is integrated. This involves solving problems such as different professional responsibilities, decision-making authority and the transfer of responsibility from one doctor to another. Liability issues must be taken into account.
Responsibilities must also be regulated in the event of absences such as holidays or illness.
The person responsible must be named in the medical records.
Hospital treatment should always be coordinated by a doctor who can be reached by the patient within a reasonable time. The coordinating doctor does not have to be the "treating" doctor. Criteria for cancelling or reviewing treatment must be specified.
Questions of responsibility for treatments that are shared by several departments will be analysed.
